    Fire and Brimstone

    Rating: 6/11

They came out of the basement for some fresh air and to share their music with people. This is according to the videos of the Fire and Brimstone performances from July 2008, which is the only thing accessible on their Myspace page. It doesn’t even show their last log in. We may have to call in the Scooby Doo mystery van to find out if these guys are still around. What the videos show is a pretty solid hard rock/metal band. There is an obvious bit of 80’s influence and some interesting riffs courtesy of dual guitars. The vocals are not particularly good, provided by all of the guitarists (including the bassist) while they perform. The guy who calls himself Yohimbe (lead vocalist/guitarist?) is confident in singing and playing simultaneously; the other two not so much. Despite this, Fire and Brimstone perform with passion and put on a decent show. They aren’t too hard or soft, basically straightforward groove metal. The only exception to this is the blues-influenced “Kill My Eyes,” which kind of sounds like B.B. King meets Black Sabbath. Nothing too spectacular, but a band worth checking out. That is, if they’re still around.
