    Golden Triangle

    By: Yvonne De La Rosa
    Rating: 7/11

Though the six who make up the eclectic, booming, self-proclaimed “Down-tempo/Jungle/Garage” band called Golden Triangle each hail from different parts of the country, all come together to form a sound that is mostly their own. Songs reminiscent of Sonic Youth and The Smashing Pumpkins are likely to take the listener back to the early-to-mid 90’s; nevertheless, Golden Triangle's sound is a very creative one, taking full advantage of both male and female voices. Although it may be a little on the “short and sweet” side, a melding of voices makes “Prize Fighter”one of the band's most popular songs; this very catchy tune will have listeners bobbing their heads and tapping their feet before they know it. The lyrics are a mixture of fun and a bit of confusion in the same hand, but that doesn’t seem to matter much. At the end of the day, Golden Triangle continues to gain a very strong following here in good old NYC.
