    Twin Shadow

    By: Becky Firesheets
    Rating: 7/11

Enter Twin Shadow’s world.  Electro rhythms set to whimsical guitar, surf rock riffs with dreamy vocals, Nintendo-esque melodies played alongside bells, multi-voiced choruses, loud rock breakdowns.  All of this somehow works, transporting listeners to another place much like dancing through a field on psychedelic drugs.  Lead singer and guitarist George Lewis Jr.’s (pictured) smooth voice ranges from a sexy tenor to a higher alto, gracing the notes with a slightly lazy flair.  The only setback in their collection of tunes is the electronic drums.  While appropriate in some places, they other times fall flat, the songs asking for more complicated drumset rhythms.  Overall though, Twin Shadow is a nice trip.  Lay back, get in the headspace, and enjoy.
