Also at O'Brien's, this Saturday You Lion celebrates the release of their EP End It On The Bridge. They are sandwiched between openers Nassy, and the mighty Piles headlining. Piles are a mostly instrumental 3 piece with hard hitting drums and Slint dynamics. This is a rare show for them, and not to be missed.

Sunday night, you can catch the recently reunited Shore Leave playing a free show at The Middle East Downstairs. His songs speak of lessons and heartbreak and girls, his voice smooth and inoffensive with a very mild tang that helps to deliver the lovesick, sweetheart persona. The compositions won’t be breaking any boundaries or blowing any minds, but they do achieve that pleasing catchiness that makes it easy to nod the head and wait for the enjoyable payoffs.

If so, then Team Robespierre has the perfect music for you. This Brooklyn band brings the most upbeat form of angst ever delivered through music.
Jenny Dee and the Deelinquents (pictured) are hosting their CD Release party Friday night at TT The Bear's. You might know Jen from her stints in The Downbeat 5 and The Dents. Joining her are Barrence Whitfield and the Monkeyhips, Jordan Valentine & the Sunday Saints (ex- World's Greatest Sinners), Gene Dante & The Future Starlets, Blizzard of 78, and Jed Parish. Eli "Paperboy" Reed and the DJ's of Soul-le-lu-jah spin between sets. This is a night of soul, R&B, and rock that is not to be missed.

Its reads like the reviewer is unable to give an artist a thumbs up or a thumbs down and symbolizes a lack of conviction. But in the case of Ghost Ghost, I have a difficult time praising them and an even harder time writing them off. Their talent goes beyond merely showing potential, but their lack of a musical core makes it feel like they are doing an eternal dance around greatness. Their EP release might be the shot they threw into the dark before they have a major breakthrough.
