Two friends, Will Bryant and David Buivid realized that local artists were not being supported nearly enough and deserved some serious attention. The compilation features twelve tracks from Boston-based bands and was a huge success, culminating in a sold-out show at The Middle East. Read below for the rest of the compilation's history!

From there, Will contacted Becky Firesheets, friend, writer and musician. The two talked for over a year about turning the compilation into an online music mag, starting in New York (where they both now live) and branching out to other cities. Finally, here it is!  The magazine's mission is to promote local, up-and-coming bands through various ways: brief articles (check out the Band Briefs page), album reviews, live reviews and full features (on the main page).  The mag also wants to support local venues who host these artists, so check out the Venue Blurbs for info and reviews of over 60 clubs and spaces.

Compilation's Full History:

As the title of the album suggests, the concept for the compilation arose from the desire to mutually promote some of the under appreciated bands leading the independent music movement in Boston. The organizers of the album recognized that radio and record stores were not adequately catering to the needs of the Boston local rock scene. Many of the bands successfully sold-out famous music clubs in the area including Great Scott, TT The Bears Place and The Middle East Club but had been unable to gain significant media attention for their efforts. The purpose of the compilation was to help garner exposure for the high caliber bands playing nightly in music clubs in the northeast.

Bands who participated include: Read Yellow, Hooray For Earth, Helms, Mad Man Films, Shore Leave, The Campaign For Real Time, Faces on Film, The Main Drag, Blanks., Tiny Amps, Movers & Shakers, Beat Awfuls, Before Lazers, Tiny Whales.
